Pest Control FAQs

General Pest Control Questions

  • How long have you been in the business?

Tennessee Valley Exterminating Company has been in business since 1959 and under the same ownership since 1979. We have been serving Nashville and the surrounding areas for over 55 years.

  • Are your technicians trained and certified?

Tennessee Valley Exterminating Company trains all employees hired and are State Certified technicians. Our techs have a combined total of over 100 years of experience!

  • Will the chemicals harm my family or pets?

No. Tennessee Valley Exterminating Company, Inc. uses chemicals that are found to be safe for humans, pets, and the environment. The products we use are tested thoroughly by their manufacturers, which are the same companies that produce pharmaceuticals in some cases, by independent labs, in long-term field studies, and they are then independently evaluated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to ensure their safety. If you still have concerns, our integrated pest management company can answer your questions, or supply MSDS information and Label Specifications upon request.

  • Do you offer any "green" or non-chemical treatments?

We offer a variety of green programs that take a preventive approach toward pest control, thus significantly reducing the need for pesticides.

  • How often should pest control be done?

Most homes benefit from recurring pest control services, typically on a quarterly basis. This helps prevent infestations and keeps your home protected year round.

  • How long does pest control take?

The length of the service visit will vary depending on the pest and level of infestation, but typically the service takes about 30 minutes to an hour for pest control service. Termite treatments will take more time.

  • Will I need more than one treatment?

In some cases, multiple treatments or ongoing service may be recommended depending on the type of pest and severity of the infestation. We will explain your options clearly.

  • If pests reappear after treatment, has my treatment service failed?

Not necessarily. It may be common to see pests reappear after an initial service. This may be the result of a "flushing" effect of some products used to bring the pest out of their harborage areas. Some pests, such as German Roaches, will require multiple, frequent treatments to control or eradicate them properly, so they may be still present after the first treatment. The level of an infestation is also a factor that determines the length of time, and number of services required to properly control a particular pest. Not every pest treatment is 100% effective on the first application - even from the most reputable companies. Remember, you're dealing with living creatures and they can often find unprotected gaps in the treatment barrier. Experienced pest control professionals will continuously service your home until the source of the problem is identified and eliminated.

  • When will I start seeing results?

Some pests are eliminated quickly, while others may take a few days to fully resolve. Our treatments are designed to address the source of the problem for long term results.

  • Can I get rid of pests myself?

While store bought products may provide temporary relief, they often do not eliminate the source of the infestation. Professional pest control is the most effective way to fully solve the problem.

  • Do you guarantee your work?

We believe that quality counts; therefore, we warranty most programs.
