SALES/INSPECTOR Tennessee Valley Ext. Co., Inc. provides pest control and termite protection to both residential and commercial properties. We are seeking to employ an individual that is a quick learner, understands chemical information and treatments easily and communicates favorably with our customers. We want an employee who shares our business values and who continually wants to be educated on service and skills to solve our customers’ problems.


Job Requirements:

• Must effectively read, speak and write in English (all handwriting to be legible and orderly)

• Possess a valid TN Driver’s license

• Excellent time management skills

• Enjoys working with customers and loves working outdoors

• Excellent written and communication skills

• Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment

• Willing to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check (if requested)

• Demonstrate punctuality and good attendance

• Has a friendly attitude and demeanor

• Each employee must obey policy and procedures of our company handbook

• Able to read maps

• US citizen

• Must be able to work Monday thru Friday

• Must be physically fit and be capable of safely crawling and climbing. Vision specifications include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.


Education and specifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

• Attend regularly scheduled training sessions

• Sales/inspector experience preferred but will train

 Familiar with construction terminology and methods 

• Familiar with all types of Wood destroying organisms, the types of damage they do and how to effectively provide control methods 

• Capable of using touch screen phones and GPS equipment 


Job Duties and responsibilities: 

• Drive a company vehicle to customer location and provide inspection in a safe and effective manner 

• Inspect commercial and residential properties 

• Sell termite treatments and any relevant work and termite annual renewals. 

• Prepare sales contracts and documentation 

• Exceed customer expectations such as educating and informing them, making suggestions to customers about treatment specifications and necessary methods of treatment 

• Involve others when necessary in solving customers’ problems when a solution is not readily clear. 

• Present themselves in a professional manner; always courteous and friendly with customers and co-workers 

• Manage schedule each day proactively looking for ways to incorporate new stops and customer calls; adapting quickly to change in schedules. 

• Maintain vehicle cleanliness at all times 

• Participate in professional development training opportunities to enhance knowledge and meet requirements for state licensing. 

• Use strong time management skills; be organized and timely 

• Highly dependable with a strong work ethic 

• Complete all other duties as assignedWork Environment: 

• You will work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather in areas that are sometimes confined, hot/cold, damp, odoriferous, dirty and/or poorly lighted.

• During a normal work day you may inspect, crawl, and work in sub-areas, basements, and attics of structures and will work around insecticides, termiticides, propellants, fumigants, and other materials commonly found in and around structures.
